Self-Service

Self-Service Library

Self-Service Library Hours allow customers to stop by while the library is closed to pick up holds, use computers, print, make copies, or stay for the day to study, access Wi-Fi, and browse for books. Customers must register in advance and attend a staff-led orientation to access Self-service Library Hours.

Self-Service Library Hours are available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. outside of regular hours everyday, including holidays.

How to register for a self-service library:

Contact the library to register and schedule an orientation.

About appointments:

  • Occur in-person at the library during regularly staffed hours.
  • Take approximately 15 minutes.
  • Only those 18 and over can register for this service. Children can use the Self-Service Library Hours with their caregivers present.

What to bring:

Your photo ID and library card.  If you do not have a library card, get a card online or arrive 10 minutes early to your appointment to get one.

What to expect:

At the orientation, staff will walk you through the building to highlight the services available during Self-Service Library hours. They will provide information about accessing the building, emergency and safety measures, and ask you to sign an agreement that you understand and will follow the Self-Service guidelines.

After the orientation, your Entry Code will be assigned and sent to your preferred notification method (text or email) within 10 minutes. If you forget your Entry Code, you can ask for an Entry Code Reminder. If you do not receive your Entry Code, please call the library during regular library hours.

We are looking forward to hearing about your experience using this service. Your input will be valuable as we consider expanding this self-service option to other communities.

  • You can give permission for another person to pick up your holds by calling or visiting your community library. Staff will ask for your library card number or account information. Staff will then add the name of the person you are authorizing to pick up holds to your account. The holds will always be checked out on the account of the person picking up the items.
