Express Lockers FAQs

• What are express lockers and how do I use them?

  Express lockers are self-service hold pickup locations open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All library materials, except oversized items and book discussion kits, may be checked out through an express locker.

  To retrieve holds from an express locker, scan your library card’s barcode at the screen or type in your barcode number and password. Once you are logged in, the door to the locker containing your holds will appear on screen. Select which locker to open and the locker door will spring open. Your items will automatically check out when the locker door opens.

  Holds are held in lockers for three days. If you are unable to pick up your hold, you may place a new hold on the item or contact us to reactivate your hold.

• How do I choose an express locker for pickup when I request library materials?

  When placing an item on hold, choose the Lakewood Lockers or Monroe or Camano Island express locker as the pickup location.

  To send single items to an express locker:

  • In your account menu, select On Holdunder My Borrowing.
  • Change the Pick Up At location listed on the item to an express locker location.

  To send all future holds to an express locker: 

  • In your account menu, select My Settings, then Holds and Pick-up Locations under Account Preferences.
  • Adjust your preferred pickup location to an express locker location.

• I'm having trouble getting my hold out of the Express Lockers!

  For the lockers available at the Camano Island and Monroe libraries, please connect with a staff member during open hours. 

  Phone assistance is available for the Lakewood Lockers by calling Lakewood/Smokey Point Library during open hours. 

• Can I return books at Express Lockers?

  You sure can! There is a return box near all of our Express Lockers.
