Students from Yemen enjoy American library experience
Getting a public library card is a great American experience, one that students from Yemen dropped by Lynnwood Library recently to enjoy.
Their advisor, Kim Kraft, told us that the students are participants the Community College Initiative (CCI) at Edmonds Community College. CCI is a State Department program that provides participants with quality educational study at U.S. community colleges. It is designed to build technical skills, enhance leadership capabilities, and strengthen English language proficiency. Students also learn about U.S. culture, society, and institutions.
"The library tour was a great chance for students to learn about the freedom to information and access to resources we have in the U.S.," said Kim. "The students were also excited about the opportunities available for volunteering as they are required to complete 125 volunteer hours during their time here."
